We are currently running version 4.2.62.0 on WCS and we are looking to upgrade. I've been searching for the proper upgrade path for this. I would like to go to 6.0 code. All the controllers will be upgraded to 5.2.178 once WCS has been upgraded. Please let me know the proper procedure.

Upgrade directly to 6.0 from wcs 4.2.62.0.
You just need to run the 6.0 WCS installer and that will upgrade your 4.2 version.
Make a backup of your 4.2 database before running the upgrade, just in case.

You should read the release notes thoroughly when upgrading WCS (or a WLC, for that matter). Here's a link to the relevant section about being able to upgrade directly from 4.2.62.0. To perform the upgrade (once you have a good backup or two), you simply run the installer and follow the prompts.
