I am trying to figure out how to have a file stored locally on the DMP to play over and over again.

If you had access to a Digital Media Manager(DMM) with a
Digital Signage Module(DSM), you could perform the following Steps:
* Add the Media content item to the Media Library on the Digital Media Manager(DMM)-Digital Signage Module(DSM)
* Create a Playlist or Presentation with this Media Content item
* Go to the DMM-DSM, Under the ADVANCED TASKS Tab select the Application Type "File Transfer to DMP or server"
* Select "Add New Application"
- Select the appropriate Presentation or Playlist
- Press the "Select Application" Button
- Press the "Submit" Button
* Once the "File Transfer to DMP or server" is added, you can run this Task to copy the content locally to the DMP.
- Go to the DMM-DSM DMP Manager and select the desired DMP
- Under the Actions Drop Down, Select the "File Transfer to DMP or server" Task you created and Click GO.
- The Files will copy the presentation or playlist information to the selected(s) DMPs.
* The DMM-DSM will GENERATE a "(Go to) URL entry" in the Advanced Tasks.
In order to see the NAME & URL PATH of the "FileTransfer..." Task, Go to the DMM-DSM, Under the ADVANCED TASKS Tab select the Application Type "(Go to) URL entry"
and it will list the NAME "LOCAL--" playlist\presentation name.
- Select "Edit Application"
- Record the LOCAL URL PATH
* You can RUN this Task LOCALLY using the DMP-Device Manager(DM) or Under the Actions
Drop Down on the DMM-DSM DMP Manager.

If you do NOT access to a Digital Media Manager(DMM) with a
Digital Signage Module(DSM), you could use a Custom HTML file
or JAVA Script to use for a Playlist of Locally Stored Video Files.
Note: This method is NOT officially supported and the Cisco TAC
will not support issues with the DMP in relation to the javascript
or custom htmls.
Checkout the Following Sample HTML files:
-------------------------------------------
The "Local-mpg-file.pdf" is a sample of HTML code that plays
the Locally Stored Video File(s):
ATTACHED: Local-mpg-file.pdf
The "Local-mpg-http.pdf" is a sample of HTML code that plays
the Remote Video File(s) that are locate on a Web Server:
ATTACHED: Local-mpg-http.pdf
Note: The ".HTML" file & the Video Content File(s) will need
to be ftpd to the Local Storage device on the DMP(s).

Hi Thomas,
I am aware of the new Content Delivery (CD) functionality in DMM5.1.
However, I wonder how can one create a playlist with URL items pointing to local files on DMPs like before. Earlier, I used to use the format: file:///tmp/ftproot/usb_1/file.mpg when adding items to a new playlist and DMM would accept it.
Now when I try to add a new media asset and select URL as the source, DMM won't accept the URL format file:/// and gives the error message:
"Please enter a valid URL starting with http://, udp://, or rtsp://"
Please advise for a work around.
Thanks

Hi tomas, I want to ask you about the document Local-mpg-file.pdf
I´m testing it with a local video located on "tmp/ftproot/usb_1/deployment/Videos/Game_trailers_V1_1920x1080_000910_mpg2_TS.mpg"
but l´m getting a butterfly
The http url from the dmp is pointed to the file: file:///tmp/ftproot/usb_1/Video_from_local.html
I´m doing something wrong.
Regards and Thanks

Hi Carlos,
The playlist item URL is mistyped. You should replace the syntax at line 37 as follows:
From
"tmp/ftproot/usb_1/"
to
"file:///tmp/ftproot/usb_1/"
Also make sure you remove the extra "<" in < at the top HTML tag.
Give it a try.

Hi,
I'm posting another issue related with the locally stored content.
I'have deployed succesfully several playlists, presentations to the DMPS using "deployment package" in "Advanced tasks".
The "go to url" have also been created automatically succesfully.
When selecting any of the related "go to url" actions the content is visible on the lcd.
But, in case that i schedule all these "go to url" under "play in the future" it's impossible to see any content on the lcd- instead i see a black screen.
Has anyone else experienced this situation?
