Hi All,

The printed label with MAC-address does not compare with MAC-address used at DHCP call. With 2950 does it always compare. Why is it so?

Regards

Mats

Are the MAC addresses coming from SVI interfaces??

Hi,

I don't know. We are using the autoinstall feature, that tries to get an Ip-address from the network.

Mats,

The switch has a pool of mac addresses. Some are used on physical interfaces, and some are used on the virtual interfaces (vlan interfaces).

Look at "show interface vlan " and "show interface fa0/" where n is a vlan number or interface number. You can see the mac address listed.

Is the switch your DHCP server, or a DHCP client?

Hi,

My problem is that we use autoinstall of switches and with 2950 we look at the label on the back of the switch and register that in a central database with model-type, so when we see a mac-address in our DHCP-server we can create a config-file automatically. When the labels Mac and DHCP Mac don't correspond, we send a alarm. Is there any logic wich Mac we are getting based on Mac on label
