route leakage

Hi,

I have question about routing.

I have a 6500 running 12.2(18)SXF15 with a vrf pointing towards my monitoring server. How can I get the SMNP traps routed from the global table to the vrf?

Well routing should of course work both ways.

Hello Ola,

look if there is a vrf option in the command that specifies the source for SNMP traps

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/netmgmt/command/reference/nm_20.html#wp1024558

unfortunately I don't see this vrf option in command

snmp-server source interface as it happens in other commands

so actually a route leakage approach is needed in your case.

one way could be the following:

associate an ip subnet both to the VRF and to the GRT.

vlans X and Y connect with a crossover cable one access-port in vlan X with one port in vlan Y.

and

ip route trap-server 255.255.255.255 vlanX

snmp-server source interface vlan X

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe,

Thank you for the tip.

I will try that and see if it will solve my problem.

Kind regards

Hi again Giuseppe,

Do you know of any way to solve it with internal routing instead of a physical cable. The reason I ask is because because there is a bit to travel to get to the 6500.

Regards

/Ola
