Folks, if you remove power cable from a device, then connect power cable back in that is a power cycle.
Then from a Cisco switch if you issue the 'reload' command, the device would "reboot".
Question:As far as getting memory cleared, do you see any difference between the two? I heard in the past that some devices may not get the memory cleared unless you power cycle (what it does not make sense to me, but I just want to confirm).

Reboot from CLI is more clean than a brutal power cycle.
If you do a warm reboot, then it will not clean all the memory as the warm reboot is made to restart the router in a few seconds.
To answer your question, a reboot should have the same effect as a power cycle as far as memory clearing.
