Hello. We are trying to perform a backup of our LMS 2.6 server, so that we can migrate the data to LMS 3.1, which is housed on a different Sun server. The backup was kicked of manually using the wrapper.pl script from the LMS 3.1 DVD, which runs until it gets to the cmfDb database. I get the following error:
- Backing up database cmfDb: Adaptive Server Anywhere Command File Hiding utility Version 9.0.0.1364
- Can't open file /opt/CSCOpx/bin/.temp1.txt
- Abort - core dumped
- Adaptive Server Anywhere Backup Utility version 9.0.0.1364
(10037 of 10037 pages, 100% complete)
(4 of 4 pages, 100% complete)
- Database backup completed
- Adaptive Server Anywhere Command File Handling Utility Version 9.0.0.1364
- Adaptive Server Anywhere Validation Utility Version 9.0.0.1364
After the last line, the backup seems to be hung. The .temp1.txt file is a binary file. Does anyone know if this file can be deleted and the backup started over?

Yes, you can try it, but this usually indicates some kind of corruption in the database being backed up (cmf in this case). If you have a known good backup of LMS 2.6 already, restore it to the 2.6 server, then take a new wrapper.pl backup.

Hi Joe. We do not have a good backup unfortunately. I will try to delete this file and run the backup again. If that does not work are there any other solutions. We have tons of archived configs and data that we need migrated to the new server running LMS 3.1.

If the database really is corrupt, you will be out of luck as you will need to reinitialize the cmf database thus losing all devices in all LMS applications. That is why regular backups are so important.
