Roaming between 802..11b and 802.11g

Hi

I have a wireless network using AIR-LAP1131G-E-K9 in indoor, AIR-LAP1310G-E-K9 on outddor and a wireless LAN Contrôller 4402 to contrôl all the APs.

In order to increase the coverage of the outdoor AP, I have planned to use 802.11b for AIR-LAP1310G-E-K9 while using 802.11g for the indoor AP.

My question is if an IP Phone CP 7921G from the indoor using 802.11g is walking to the outdoor which use 802.11b, the communication will be dropped or there will be semaless roaming betwwen 802.11b and 802.11g?(the same SSID will be difused)

thank you in advance

I have this problem too.

Thank you for Replying,

I have limeted my self to 11b because the AP can cover more space when using 11b than using 11g (150 feet (45 meters) at 54 Mbps and 775 feet (235 meters) at 11 Mbps).

So according to your reply i can roam semlessly between the 11G and 11b.

Thank you in advance

Roaming within the same band will be seamless.

However, if you enable only 11 Mbps or some other 802.11b data rate only and the other APs have 802.11b/g rates enabled, then the client may not upshift to the 802.11g rates after coming from the AP with 802.11b only rates.

We are also adding interband seamless roaming for the 1.3(4) release.
