Thats surprising to me it doesn't show up with sh mod or sh idprom . It shows up on a 4500 with dual sup's with either command.

"sh module" and "show inventry" does provide output for both active/standby sup engines serial info...

Hello Glen,

I wonder if the standby supervisor is operational or it is in rommon.

if in sh module the status is not OK but Other then probably it cannot report data about it.

We had a trouble in two C4500 and if I remember correctly after the standby sup has gone in rommon from sh module it was not possible to see its serial number and IOS version just state Other.

Hope to help

Even the command "show inventory raw"

does not give the standby sup serial number.

Total there are 10 switches each contains dual supervisor 720.

Also those switches are As VSS.

Please how can we get the serial number of standby supervisor.

just a doubt

if these are VSS chassis they don't support a redundant supervisor in the same chassis.

There are plans for providing this but not on the near term.

This can explain why you cannot access the serial numbers of these redundant supervisors: they shouldn't be there.

if so I would recommend to have them unplugged.

Hope to help
