Hello,

I have CAT 6500's with Supe 720's. Netflow is working on L3+ packets, but bridged traffic not showing up. Read several articles on this and THOUGHT I have the correct IOS train and ver, but still no love.

Any help on this would be great!

TIA!

Gary

Hi Gary,

Bridged netflow stats support begain in 12.2(33)SXE. The other restriction is that the feature requires a PFC3b or later.

See:

http://cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SX/configuration/guide/netflow.html#wp1157805

Hope that helps,

Bobby

$hit! I have 12.2(33)SXI1, but my PFC is rev A!

For future reference, does the modular or monolythic IOS matter at all, or as long as my hardware is good and the IOS ver OK - I should be OK?

Yes, Modular or Monolithic IOS should be the same in terms of feature support

(except for those features specific to modular IOS such as restarting processes, etc.)

HTH,

Bobby

Hello Gary,

an explicit command is needed:

Router(config)# ip flow export layer2-switched vlan vlan_ID[-vlan_ID] [, vlan_ID[-vlan_ID]]

see

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SXF/native/configuration/guide/nde.html#wp1140743

release after 12.2(18)SXE should be fine

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Yes, I have added the explicit command for L2 flows, but looks like my PFC3A is the issue....

Can you even upgrade the PFC's by themselves, or does the whole supe / MSFC need upgraded?

Quick google shows the PFC CAN be upgraded by itself. Thanks for the prompt replies!

Hello Gary,

I had missed the part about PFC version...

sorry for that

this question has been discussed multiple times in the forum:

you should been able to:

add memory to RP and SP

and

to replace PFC3A with a PFC3B.

see

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/hardware/Config_Notes/OL_20611.html

and for PFC3B installation

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/hardware/Config_Notes/78_16220.html

Hope to help

Giuseppe
