Yes it can, you may need the crypto image though. Here are the commands to configure SSH.

Switch(config)#hostname SwitchOne

SwitchOne(config)#ip domain-name mydomain.com

SwitchOne(config)#crypto key generate rsa

Enter modulus: 1024

SwitchOne(config)#ip ssh time-out 60

SwitchOne(config)#ip ssh authentication-retries 2

SwitchOne(config)#line vty 0 4

SwitchOne(config-line)#transport input ssh

SwitchOne(config-line)#^Z
