Hello
I have LMS3.2
I make an IPM-operation "ping-threshold"
I also configure "ip sla syslog config"
See the config of my routeur(10.167.63.14).
ip sla monitor logging traps
ip sla monitor 7014
type echo protocol ipIcmpEcho 10.168.194.8
request-data-size 64
threshold 18
owner ipm|SMPRNW01
tag ping-threshold_
ip sla monitor reaction-configuration 7014 threshold-falling 16 threshold-type immediate action-type trapOnly
ip sla monitor schedule 7014 life forever start-time now ageout 3600
Note also that the syslog level is informational (6)
Do you know why the routeur never send IP-sla-threshold-violation-syslog to RME
Allthoug, the threshold is raised many times. See attach doc.

Is "ip sla syslog config" a valid config? I can't seem to find any reference it.
The documentaitons have the following to say regarding "ip sla monitor logging traps" and "action-type trapOnly" respectively:
"These traps are generated through the CISCO-SYSLOG-MIB, and enabled using the ip sla monitor logging traps global configuration mode command."
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_4/ip_sla/configuration/guide/hsthresh.html
"trapOnly-Send an SNMP trap on both over and falling threshold violations."
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2/configfun/command/reference/frf017.html#wp1018880
So both refer to generating SNMP traps (which DFM of CiscoWorks LMS may process), while making it clear no syslog is sent (to RME, for example).

Hello,
With "ip sla syslog config" it create a job wich try to configure 3 commands:
- rtr logging trap
- ip sla logging trap
- ip sla monitor logging trap
But they are in fact the same, they depend of the ios version.
And all 3 commands, when you look at the "cisco command lookup tools" refer to sending snmp trap, but never sending syslog message.
So I wonder if is is really possible to send syslog on Sla-threshold.

It should be entirely doable through EEM, though you may have to change "action-type trapOnly", if I read this post correctly:

Bonjour Michel,
Did you ever manage to get the IPSLA device to send syslog messages?
If so, what do the SYSLOG messages look like? And what did you configure to trigger an automated action?
Thanks,
Michel
