Is there any way on a ASA 5510, v.8.0(4), to automatically resolve IP addresses in syslog messages?
TIA

You mean have an ip address show up with a name in the syslogs?
That can be done only by enableing names ("names" command on ASA) and putting in names for the ip address that you want (for example if you want 10.10.10.10 to shup up as xxx, you do "name 10.10.10.10 xxxx").
I hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply. I have the internal names resolving properly. What I'm after is resolving the IP addresses in syslog messages to host names when accessing the internet.
Am I looking at an IPS sensor config to accomplish this?
Thanks again,
Ken
