I thoroughly recommend the following for remote management and reporting (call usage etc).

Whenever I have major work on CUCM that affects multiple sites and I am working out of core hours, I can remote any phone and test calls out of any of the 15 voice gateways to my phone/mobile which is great. I can also talk a user through features and check CLID on their screen.

You can also broadcast messages to IPT handsets (excluding 7912 older models etc), I use this feature to reming staff of updates etc.

You can use the web-based application for trouble-shooting, it is quite amazing and well worth the investment.
