It could well be your config register. Can you post output of "sh run" from router.

2 FastEthernet interfaces

1 Channelized T1/PRI port

Reginald

Your configuration register is set to 0x2142 which tells the router to ignore the running config at boot up.

Change the config register on your router ie.

2811(config)# config-register 0x2102

2811# wr mem

and then reload

Jon

Good to go. Thank You

Hello.

I know this post is old but I am having this problem too. Although for me it tells me that OK for the build. But it always says 0 bytes. Any ideas? I am running new 2960-S switches and none of them can copy the configs.

I did a little research, appartently I cannot change my configuration register in this version of iOS. Any help would be imensely helpful!

Thanks,

Tim

Hi Tim,

Few things to check:

1- Do you see any issue when you do the WR MEM ?

2- If  you are not facing any issue with WR MEM command. Please follow the following steps:

Switch#Wr erase
Switch# copy run start.
Please let me know if this works.

Thank you both. Yes this command does work. I did a reload and the config did stick this time. I am surprised that the old command works and not the new one. Also I don't like this command because it doesn't tell you how many bytes were copied like the newer one does, which is a simple confirmation that it worked. But at least I can save, which is the point.

Thanks again!

MOH-2960VOICE-FL53#copy run start

Can you use the command "write"?

I have seen this behavior on some catalyst switches where it reports 0 bytes copied. I regard it as a relatively cosmetic error. In my experience the config file is copied, contrary to Tim's assumption that the copy failed, and the issue is the report of how many bytes were copied.

So all the versions of the command (copy run start, write mem, and write) do copy the configuration file. The issue is with the report of bytes copied in the new version of the command.
