POE Error on 4500

Hi,

I'm seeing the following error on a 4500 running 12.2(46)SG

C4K_IOSMODPORTMAN-4-INLINEPOWEROVERWARNING: Module 5 inline power exceeds threshold: status changed to 'Pwr Over'

All the ports on module 5 have "power inline never" applied, in fact the whole switch has POE disabled.

I've attached a txt file with the show power detail output.

Do I have a problem with the module, backplane ??

Thanks in advance.

Hello Richard,

you shouldn't have hardware related problems and if you are not using POE you are not affected by this.

my wild guess is a SW bug.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

In 12.2(50)SG6 and SG8 I had the same problem.  This is what resolved my problem:

I was able to resolve this issue by using doing the following on the modules that had “Pwr Over”:

     Interface range gig 4/1-48

     Power inline never

     Exit

     Interface range gig 4/1-48

     Power inline auto

It must recompute inline power.....
