Hello,
my costumer is working with a 6509-E chassis running two WS-SUP720-3B with 12.2(33)SXI2a.
Redundancy mode is SSO but the state is DISABLED, why?

c6500-P3b#show redundancy states
       my state = 13 -ACTIVE
     peer state = 1  -DISABLED
           Mode = Simplex
           Unit = Primary
        Unit ID = 5

Redundancy Mode (Operational) = sso
Redundancy Mode (Configured)  = sso
Redundancy State              = Non Redundant
     Maintenance Mode = Disabled
Communications = Down      Reason: Simplex mode

   client count = 119
client_notification_TMR = 30000 milliseconds
          keep_alive TMR = 9000 milliseconds
        keep_alive count = 0
    keep_alive threshold = 18
           RF debug mask = 0x0

How can I start troubleshooting?

Thanks.

Andrea

Hello Andrea,

start to see from sh module what is the current state of standby supervisor.

it is likely in rommon state.

see following documents about recovering a sup in rommon

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps700/products_tech_note09186a008015bfa1.shtml

Also be aware that the presence of service modules like NAM can affect the capabilities of the sups to build an SSO pair this for a bug present in 12.2SRx but I see you have 12.2(33)SXI2.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hello Giuseppe.

I'm receiving more info from my customer.

Show module reports the secondary supervisor is in unknown state.

I believe it doesn't start correctly.

Many thanks for your help.

Andrea
