hello,

we have a scenario as follows;

-4507r

-dual sup 5

requirement

-1 flash has to be replaced without downtime

was thingking to do the following procedure

-remove the sup 5 on standby

-replace the flash

-do a copy tftp:ios_image to slavebootflash (this part iam in doubt as iam not sure whether the system will recognize the slavebootflash since the standby sup has not initiated at all at this point)

PLS GIVE YOUR SUGGESTION...MANY THANKS

Are you refering to external flash card or internal flash ?

If its an internal one then i am not sure if its a good idea to just replace the flash. rather i would suggest you to replace the Sup if its under contract or warrenty, as many customers are not able to replace the flash easily. If you are confident you can do it then what you suggested should work. System will recognize the slavebootflash.

If you are ordering the flash or sup from CISCO as RMA we can upload the required IOS on it that will save a lot of time for you.
