ACS5.1 installation on Vmware server

Hi folks,

We are trying to catch up with the latest release of ACS 5.1.

The plan is to install it on Vmware server as the this release notes guide says:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_system/5.1/release/notes/acs_51_rn.html

Any idea what Vmware server should it be? Will ESX work for it?

Hi Eugene,

ACS 5.0 and 5.1 will require 500Gb of hard disk space configured in the ESX ( 3.5) virtual machine and minimum 4Gb RAM for it to install and run correctly.

Thanks a lot, man!

I figured that it is installable on ESX and for the lab purposes it is enough to allocate at least 2 GB of RAM for ACS5.1 VM to run. Hope someone will find it useful as well. Enabling thin provisioning on ESX server also saves the hard drive space. The ACS5.1 installer asked for a minimum of 60GB of harddrive space but after the install the total size of the harddrive at ESX server taken by ACS was about 8GB. Of course I instalelled and used it for evaluation purposes. Perhaps production environment will require more resources.
