bootflash on sup5? compact flash or dimm?

hello,

what is the 64mb bootflash form on the sup engine 5? dimm or cf?

i cant find any layout/image of sup 5. if someone can help pls...thanks

I apologize -- your are right that the 512MB DIMM is for the Supervisors memory. However, there is another built in 64MB flash module, in addition to a Compact Flash card slot, that you can use for storing the IOS image.  Bootflash is the builtin module, and Slot0 refers to the CF card slot.

Hi,

The default is a SODIMM memory chip installed on the Supervisor module, but the 4500 Supervisor V also has a slot for a compact flash.

i think the;

-512 sodimm is the system dram

-64 mb compact flash is for the bootflash

do we have here any detailed docu about sup 5...couldnt find any..thx

You don't necessarily need to remove the DIMM, unless it's already bad or you have some other reason.  You can use this article to show you how to set the boot parameters to boot off the CF card:
