Hi,
We are facing problem in installing Ten Gig module in one of our 6500 chasis that it is not coming up and status is 'PwrDown' when use 'show module' command. We are also getting following log messages,
Nov 23 08:10:00.043: %C6KENV-SP-2-DFCMISMATCHMINOR: Module 7 DFC installed is incompatible with system operating mode. Power denied.
To enable Module 7 DFC, the system must be reset.
WARNING: Any system reset will change the system operating mode which can result in degradation of system performance. To eliminate this from occurring, remove Module 7 DFC or replace with a system compatible DFC.
What could be the possible root cause and solution of this problem.
Thanks.

Hi,
What is the PFC mode and what is the DFC type you have in module 7?.
If the PFC mode is 3C and if you are trying to insert module with DFC type 3B, you will get this error.

Well, the solution is as the error message says ie. you need to reboot the 6500 switch. But you also need to be aware of the performance degradation this might cause. Have a read of this link which explains compatibility issues between PFC/DFC & CFC cards -
