Cisco 1841

Dear All.

We Are using Cisco 1841 router at location A and Location B.
Both router is connect with RF Link In Bridge Mode using Fa0/1 on Both Router.
Location A ---- Fa01 ---- Ip Address 192.168.1.1/24
Location B ---- Fa01 ---- IP Address 192.168.1.2/24

But when we ping from one location to another we are not able to ping.
So we debug this with using Debug IP Packet command and the result is as follows.

Nov 17 10:26:21.387: IP: tableid=0, s=192.1.1.1 (local), d=192.1.1.2 (FastEthernet0/1), routed via RIB
*Nov 17 10:26:21.387: IP: s=192.1.1.1 (local), d=192.1.1.2 (FastEthernet0/1), len 84, sending
*Nov 17 10:26:21.387: IP: s=192.1.1.1 (local), d=192.1.1.2 (FastEthernet0/1), len 84, encapsulation failed
*Nov 17 10:26:23.387: IP: tableid=0, s=192.1.1.1 (local), d=192.1.1.2 (FastEthernet0/1), routed via RIB
*Nov 17 10:26:23.387: IP: s=192.1.1.1 (local), d=192.1.1.2 (FastEthernet0/1), len 85, sending
*Nov 17 10:26:23.387: IP: s=192.1.1.1 (local), d=192.1.1.2 (FastEthernet0/1), len 85, encapsulation failed

Can any tell me what does this means and how can we resolve this......
Need Help.

Santosh.

Hi Friend,

The problem is associated with the RF device itself, now in order for the RF device to work properly you have to check its ethernet settings (duplex, speed).

This device might try to autonegociate duplex and speed which most lickly will fail especially if the device OS is old.

Go to the device and configure the duplex settings and speed manually and do the same on your router, if this still don't work you can test by inserting a layer 2 switch between the router and the RF device, usually layer 2 switches are more intellegent when connecting to varios device (they don't bring the interface down when speed mismatch occure or frames gets droped).

Hope that helps
