Hi Guys,

I want to configure failover between two ASA's. Do I have to use a switch between them to configure failover. I know in earlier days it was a must to have a switch between the pix's to configure failover. How about with the ASA's Do I need to have a switch between them to configure failover.

Tks

It is highly suggested you use a pair of switches for failover between the ASAs.

As Collin saifd you probably want to use a switch.

You don't want a situation where one failover interface on one of the ASAs fails and both think that theirs failed because they saw their interface went down.

With the siwtch going down that situation would happen only if both the switch interfaces went down (not likely).

I hope it helps.
