How can I change the Digital Optical Monitoring thresholds levels?

Hi, is it possible to change the thresholds levels which are showed by show interface tranceiver detail? I have badly calibrated SFPs which generate a lot of logs. I'm using c4506E. Thanks for any hints.

Unless I'm not mistaken, NO.  If you think you have a faulty SFP, then get it RMA-ed.  I've seen this several times and I've whenever I have doubt, I'd raise a TAC Case and insist that a replacement unit/module be sent.

I posted a TAC request and so far I get this (Chris Russell, CCIE):

Let me start by answering your question, the current value is read from the DOM chip on board the SFP (presuming it has DOM support).  This is compared with the threshold table, which is read from the IDPROM of the SFP upon bootup.  The threshold table itself can not be modified

So it seems that there is really the only way to send them back as RMAs.

There are few useful commands:

  • show interface transceiver threshold-table
  • show interface transceiver supported-list
  • show idprom interface
