I have downloaded this file cmterm-7940-7960-sccp.8-1-2.cop.sgn
I wander how I can use it...it didn't open by ZIP/RAR...
Please notice that only this file cmterm-7940-7960-sccp.8-1-2.cop.sgn have text:
Cisco IP Phone 7940 and 7960 firmware release 8.12(0) - Compatible Unified CM Versions: 5.1 or later
This one P0S3-8-12-00.zip
for 3rd party SIP call control environment
I know that I can use P0S3-8-12-00.zip,perhaps...but how I suppose that using this one cmterm-7940-7960-sccp.8-1-2.cop.sgn is more convenient?
Thank you a lot!

The file you have is the SCCP firmware. This type of file is used in CCM 5.x and later (Linux based versions). You will need to download the SIP firmware to convert the phone to SIP.
