How many APs can the WLC support and how many are already joined?
What's the firmware the WLC is running?
Does the AP have a valid IP address?

flaviomcs Thu, 11/26/2009 - 03:43

he can support up to six ap´s and i only have one

WLC

Software Version4.2.205.0

and the dhcp in the wlc has provided a ip to the ap

You just solved your own problem.

The firmware 4.2.205.0, unfortunately, does NOT support 1140.  I believe you need either the latest version of the 5.0 or 6.x.

NOTE:  I'm no fan of the 5.X firmware.  I personally recommend the 6.X.

Contact your Cisco authorized reseller and ask them for either one of the following (or both):
1.  Ask for a valid service contract.  The service contract will allow you to download the firmwares and create TAC cases (don't tell them this bit).

2.  Ask them to download the firmware for you.

If the reseller refuses (tell me something I don't know!), then you go to Plan "B".

Get the s/n of your WLC and the 1140 and create a Cisco TAC Case with it and request for the firmware to be emailed to you.  During the creation of the TAC Case Cisco will ask you (in radio buttons) something in the words like, click here if you are sure you have a valid service contract number and someone will get in touch with you.

The Cisco contracts team will verify the authenticity and if it is authentic the contracts team can insert the valid service contract number to your CCO account.

Hope this helps.
