For example you can contact trainig center for instructor-led cources.
You can also order the videos, for example, from CBT Nuggets.

Hi,

Do not those of us who chose Cisco Security curicullum envy CCNP guys and girls? New CCNP exam is not even available yet, but new CCNP study material is published already....

Unfortunately, and Cisco admitted this on the forum, Cisco took the decision that security technology changes too often to justify editing and printing the full exam preparation books for CCSP.

I asked Cisco how do they train their own engineers then? Surely they must have training material and could publish it as DRM protected PDFs but they never answered my question.

Do not despear though, if you really want to know the subject there is some good material available:

1) Cisco has PDFs called Digital Shortcuts available for download. They are not really for studying and more for quick overview of concepts but they are better then nothing.

2) There are excellent books from Cisco press about ASA and FWSM technology:

a) Cisco ASA, PIX and FWSM Firewall handbook by David Hucaby. It does not cover vpns though

b) Cisco ASA, all in one firewall, IPS, Anti-X and VPN Adaptive Security Appliance. Buy latest edition kust published.

c) Cisco Network Security Troubleshooting Handbook. It covers troubleshooting of IOS, ASAs, FWSM and IPS.

3) Buy the CBTnuggets videos, if they are as good as PIX one, although I am not sure that SNAA (Advanced) videos are available yet.

4) Get Cisco Press Firewall Routing Mentor videos by David Hucaby. They are great help with hands on exercises.

5) Try to work on real gear or at least set up GNS3 emulator to get a feel for all configuration and troubleshooting scenarios.

6) Get proper training from Cisco partner. This is an expensive option, so make sure that class sizes, instructors quality and available hardware is up to scratch before you part with your money.

Main thing is hands on practice though, unless you just want the paper with ASA Specialist on it. I am sure there are labs on ASA exams, as they were on PIX so you have to practice to pass.

I took the old CCSP exam set, which was CLI based, but new one focuses on GUI configuration (apart from initila config to get GUI going, of course)

Good news for you, going by my experience of CCSP IPS and MARS exams, is that GUI exams might be easier then old CLI exams.

It makes it easier to master ASAs for those who come from Microsoft, Checkpoint background, but you stll need to know your CLI to troubleshoot properly in my view.

Good luck with you studies.

Andrew
