Main Console error message and lost data

Unanswered Question
Nov 30th, 2009

Hi,

My customer has encountered a major issue with his 16 camera solution. Please see the following from the customer:

Clicking the "Main Console" Icon on the desktop gives me the error message "Cannot properly load Database Template, Please reinstall the system to solve this problem". I am unable to view any cameras now since I cannot open the application.

I also encounter the following problems:
Regular viewing does not show clear images in a full screen
Playback mode does not show Clear Images
System reboots often on HDD getting Full (I guess)
Lost complete recorded data on reboot.

Need immediate help. Also, is there a contact number for SBVS support at Cisco?

Thank you,

Hanu

I have this problem too.

The support number for sbsc is 866-606-1866.  I would give them a call and let them open  up a troubleshooting ticket with you.

There is a datasheet for SWVMS16 that shows the CPU, RAM, and HDD space required to run up to 8 cameras, and up to 16 cameras.

I hope you used that to select the proper PC?

Can you give some details of the PC and also the OS?

Reason I ask, is if you are running VISTA,  you need to launch the Main Console as the Administrator.

...if running Vista UAC, turn that off to run SWVMS16.

I will get you the PC specs from the customer. I know the OS is XP. The 16 camera solution has the following components too:

PVC 2300 13

PVC 300 3

SFE2000P 1

WRV210 1

NSS 2050

Will it be sufficient for viewing the video in real time without any delay?

PC capacity is important to get.

Can we pleae also ask for the configuration file and the network topology.
Users can launch "DBTool" on the same SWVMS16 folder on Start menu and export the config file.

Other comments inline.

1. Clicking the "Main Console" Icon on the desktop gives me the error message "Cannot properly load Database Template, Please reinstall the system to solve this problem". I am unable to view any cameras now since I cannot open the application.
>> (i) If running on Vista, turn off UAC  <--- you indicate you are not.
>> (ii) Also, try run the "MainConsole.exe" as Administrator privilege level.

I also encounter the following problems:

2.
Regular viewing does not show clear images in a full screen Playback mode does not show Clear Images
>> (i) Adjust camera lens focus
>> (ii) Increase video resolution, frame rate or bitrate on cameras

3. System reboots often on HDD getting Full (I guess)
>> (i) Make sure to disable "Auto Reboot" on the General Setting.
>> Need further diagnosis w/ system config file. HDD capacity should not reboot the system with default "Automatic Recycle" on.

4. Lost complete recorded data on reboot.
>> Need further diagnosis w/ system config file.
