Router (NTP master) always falls behind its scheduled time

Hi,

router  Cisco 7206VXR (NPE-G2), ( which is configured as NTP master for all the core devices in network;) which  has problem a with its clock. The Router always falls behind its scheduled time even after re-configuring the clock number of times to match the current time.

Please let me know the root cause of the same.

configuration as mentioned below -

ntp clock-period 17177542
ntp master
ntp server 172.31.10.6 ( IP Of this Router Itself)
time-range TEMP_VIRUS_BLOCK
periodic weekdays 10:00 to 13:00
periodic Saturday 10:00 to 13:00

Hi everyone....please help me to resolve this issue.

Try configure the startrum vlaue to 2 and then check the behavior,Also see the below link on startum

You shouldn't rely on the internal clock from a router to provide time for the rest of the network. It is very unreliable and it was not designed as such. If you have an internet connection, I recommend pointing this router to a public NTP server for accurate clock information and point the rest of devices in your network to this router. With this design, the router will serve as a NTP gateway.
