Star codes on the IP phones?!?

Hi,

I got a question about star codes on the cisco uc500. One of our "older" technitions are used to working with traditional pbx´s and they could use star codes to perform certain functions, like "star code" to redial last call, etc. I know this is a softkey on the UC, but it was an example :)

The question is really if it´s possible to put one of these codes on availiable line key on the phone and name the button to whatever and have it do something within the star code commands?!?

Thanks,

Eivind

Not sure about assigning to a line button, but you can 'dial' FACs.

To see the ones you get, out of the box, do show telephony-service fac:

UC540#show teleph
UC540#show telephony-service fac
  telephony-service fac standard
    callfwd all **1
    callfwd cancel **2
    pickup local **3
    pickup group **4
    pickup direct **5
    park **6
    dnd **7
    redial **8
    voicemail **9
    ephone-hunt join *3
    ephone-hunt cancel #3
    ephone-hunt hlog *4
    ephone-hunt hlog-phone *5
    trnsfvm *6
    dpark-retrieval *0
    cancel call waiting *1

The Feature Access Codes can be assigned buttons using a speed dial once they are enabled from within telephony-service configuration mode.  You can also create your own custom FAC codes with the fac custom command

This is fixed in CCA 2.2 (we configure this for you)

for now do it manually

UC540#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.
UC540(config)#telep
UC540(config)#telephony-service
UC540(config-telephony)#fac ?
custom    Select customized feature access code
standard  Select standard feature access code

UC540(config-telephony)#fac s
UC540(config-telephony)#fac standard
fac standard is set!
UC540(config-telephony)#do show telephony-service fac
  telephony-service fac standard
    callfwd all **1
    callfwd cancel **2
    pickup local **3
    pickup group **4
    pickup direct **5
    park **6
    dnd **7
    redial **8
    voicemail **9
    ephone-hunt join *3
    ephone-hunt cancel #3
    ephone-hunt hlog *4
    ephone-hunt hlog-phone *5
    trnsfvm *6
    dpark-retrieval *0
    cancel call waiting *1

UC540(config-telephony)#
