4948 not logging port events

Level 1

I upgraded one of my old 3500 switches to a 4948. The log on the 4948 doesn't show port events like up/down events. All I see in the log is configuration changed events.

Is there a way to turn this on?

I have this in the config.

logging buffered 65536 debugging

logging trap debugging

logging source-interface Vlan1

logging 10.1.1.2

Thanks,

Chuck

My switch won't take that command.

itsw-4948(config)#logging event link-status global
Translating "event"...domain server (255.255.255.255)
                           ^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

itsw-4948(config)#logging ?
Hostname or A.B.C.D  IP address of the logging host
  buffered             Set buffered logging parameters
cns-events           Set CNS Event logging level
  console              Set console logging level
exception            Limit size of exception flush output
facility             Facility parameter for syslog messages
  history              Configure syslog history table
host                 Set syslog server host name or IP address
monitor              Set terminal line (monitor) logging level
on                   Enable logging to all supported destinations

Apologies, the command was introduced in IOS version 12.2(25)SG so you would need to upgrade to have it available.

Just follow Jon's advice and use the interface  range command and apply  " logging event link-status"  to all your ports .

You need to enable "logging event link-status ..."  either globally for all interfaces or on a per-interface basis -

That worked!

I didn't think to try the port level commands.

Thank you.
