Hello,

I am trying to push the company logo to the Cisco IP Phones. In the past there was no way of doing this. With the new 7.x release is there a way to push this to all the phones by some method or does it still need to be done manually.

Appreciate your help.

Regards,

Rohan

Hi Rohan,

There is still not a method in CUCM 7.x to "push" images to become the default image on IP Phones.

Sorry man!

Rob,

We actually do it here. I am not the main person that does this but I will try and get the steps to do it. Cisco does have a document that covers this but it is not accurate. Let me track this down and I will post it here.

Sorry Rob I should never have doubted you. I guess what I had listed is not really a "push" but just a background image.

Rohan,

This is not an easy task and can only be done on 7960 and above. Here is a link for the instructions.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7970g_7971g-ge/6_1/english/administration/guide/7970cst.html#wp1089313

The instructions are not totally complete and you will probably need to work with Cisco on this. I have attached a document we created to supplement Cisco's. Also the Thumbnail image and .png image need to be in the correct size for the phones resolution so you will need a copy of both images for each phone model.

Also you will need to create an xml file for each phone model as well. I have also included one of our xml files as a sample.

I hope this helps but I would work with Cisco on this as it is not very straightforward and the images need to be tweaked and Cisco will need to be involved to make sure they look correct.

Thanks,

Mike

Still, the answer is the same. You cannot bulk push the image or set a default image natively.

You can also try Cisco Phone Designer if you're running 7.X

7960/7940 do not have background images properly speaking, they use idle URL.

There are plenty of references in NetPro on how to create background images for models that support it.

Sorry, I misunderstood. You can't "push" it out just make it available to choose from the phone. Sorry for any confusion I caused.

Hi Mike,

No apology necessary my friend Your method is very,

very valid for the "idle url" style image/logo. +5 points for your

great follow-up and nice docs as well.

Cheers!

Rob

Thanks guys for your response. Lookslike there is no way to bulk push even with 7.x. This is really a basic request from any customer and I wonder how come Cisco still doesn't have a tool or a way to bulk push the images. hopefully the BU looksat this request and has it in 8.x ??

Feature is not in 8.0 and I wouldn't expect it as a BAT function, personally.  I think it would be more likely to see it in the CUPM (Provisioning Manager) product as the BU folks I've spoken to there have said that is a very common request.  I still don't expect to see it anytime soon but just my opininon on that.
