Schedule based load balancing on CSS/ACE switches

Hi,

Can we have a time based load balancing mechanism implemented on CSS/ACE content switches.  I have a scenario where in the content switch should point traffic to one server during one time frame and to another server in different time frame.  Can we achieve this functionality using CSS or ACE, or is there any other way to do this.

thanks,

Shobith

There is no built-in mechanism...but you could use a script on a server to send XML commands to the ACE to activate/disable rservers.

Those scripts could easily be linked to a cronjob which will activate them at the time that you need.

Gilles,

Could you please explain how a scheduled script can activate / de-activate rservers on ACE based on XML?

I looked at the Health Monitoring section of the config guide but didn't see anything about XML...

thanks.

This is not a script running on ACE itself.

It needs to run on a Linux/Unix platform.

ACE accept configuration commands from XML request.

The script on the server can then send those command at scheduled time to the ACE machine.

Here is a link to the XML agent configuration.

If you are using DNS there, maybe you can use 2 different VIPs on the CSS/ACE and change the ip during the time frame you want.
