adding static routes in dhcp config for 6500 series

I have configured 6500 swicth as dhcp server.

Want to add static routes for the same .

Is there an option to propogate the routes

I assume you are referring to "ip helper-address".

Hi Raj

Do you want to forward the DHCP broadcasts to other VLANs as unicast ? If so you need to follow what Jason has posted.

If not, can you please let us know more on what exactly you are looking for ? where are the clients placed ? where is the dhcp server placed ?

Hi,

Here is a rough topolgy

LAN--core switch FWSM---MPLS router---all locations

Currently DHCP is in AD in LAN . It will be configured in core switch ,that also hosts the FWSM.

There are multiple locations that need access to the lan servers.

Currenlt default gateway is Fwsm and not MPLS router.

So from DHCP in addition to gateway we need to propogate some routes as well.

Also I am trying to bind multiple ip ' s to different MAC address to the DHCP pool.

But It is only taking the last mac and the ip addrress.

fOR MANNUAL BINDING WE HAVE TO CREATE A NEW POOL FOR EACH NEW IP ADDRESS.

Im sorry, but Im still not able to understand your requirement... Can you give us your VLANs where you want DHCP to be enabled, and the VLAN where the DHCP server is located ? LAN routes would be basically published from your WAN router, based on the type of connectivity you have, and the routing protocol you use.. and, are the default gateways for the LAN pointing to FWSM ? and how about the dhcp servers default gateway? do you have a diagram to represent your issue?

eg , if you have vlan 1 for desktops, in 192.168.100.0/24 (which is configured on the DHCP Server).. lets say dhcp server is on server vlan , VLAN 100 (10.10.10.0/24) .. you should then have "ip helper-address" on VLAN 1 pointing to the DHCP server (say 10.10.10.10)... FWSM normally are in transit between the layer 3 switch and the WAN router, and in many cases the default gateway for the end user LAN, would point to the local L3 switch and not the FWSM..

You can't do that with DHCP. Your default gateway should contain the routes that are needed by the end stations.

You need to configure either the FWSM or the MPLS router to redirect traffic to the correct destination as needed.
