CUCM 6.12 Extension Number Masking

I am running CUCM 6.12, I have the need to mask the extension numbers in my

department from being seen when I dial either internal or external calls.

I have found a couple solutions but I was hoping there is an easy way.

Also was told this is easier in CUCM 7.X, anyone know if this is true?

Chris,

The easiest way to mask outbound is the external phone number mask. Additionally you could mask internal and external by creating a partition and CSS for your department - insert translations that match all your present RPs for outside dialing and insert a translation that is a wildcard for your inside extension range - point all of these at the working CSS and restrict the calling line ID on the translations. Assign the new CSS to the lines in your group.

For 7.X I think they are referring to the Calling Party Transformation CSS setting on the IP phone. You could use calling party transformations masks to match and restrict your groups CLID and assign the CSS containing that match to the rest of the companies phones. You can also do this on gateways outbound.
