Is there a way to associate a user's cell phone with their extension such that when the user calls another user in the office, their 4-digit extension will display on the phone instead of their 10-digit cell phone? In other words, I want to make the call look like it's from a phone in the office rather than from an external cell phone.
No. This can be achieved without having to dial-in to MVA number.
The system needs to identify the number you are calling from as a RDN number to be able to manipulate it to extension number. By default it will try to match the complete number received from PSTN (ANI) with the RDN set.
Typically, we set the RDN prefixed with a 9 so as to enable Mobility to call successfully out a gateway. Since the RDN contains this 9 and incoming ANI may not have this 9 it will not recognize it as a RDN.
You can change the default mechanism to partial match of say example last 7 or 8 digits.
Go to System > Service Parameter > Select Publisher > CallManager Active Service
Same place where you configured mobility settings there will be a parameter for matching RDN.
Change it to "Partial Match" and no. of digits to partial match as 7.
It will work. (Also you will notice when you call in MVA IVR to make calls, you will just be asked for PIN instead of RDN & PIN as the system has already identified your RDN)
