Hi,

How to configure the SNMP traps for Cisco SAN Switch?

I would like to configure multiple SNMP traps in order to communicate to our Storage Network Management system and associated Community string (Private network).

Best Regards,

ChinSeong

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure whether I did it correctly or not.. I've configured as below:

The text that highlighted in blue is the newly add snmp traps... and how do I verify whether it is work? Any way to test it out?

Again... Thanks for the advise..

Network management server's IP: 168.50.31.100

Unique SNMP trap: I77V5eRAUEAa

UDP Port: 162

Telnet to the switch....

CiSCO_MDS_SW1# conf terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.
CiSCO_MDS_SW1(config)# snmp-server host 168.50.31.100 traps version 2 I77V5eRAUEAa udp-port 162
CiSCO_MDS_SW1(config)# exit
CiSCO_MDS_SW1# show snmp host
Host                            Port Version  Level  Type   SecName

____                            ____ _______  ______ ____  ______

169.168.151.123                 2162 v2c      noauth trap   public

168.50.31.100                   162  v2c      noauth trap   I77V5eRAUEAa

CiSCO_MDS_SW1# copy run start

CiSCO_MDS_SW1#

Thanks.

Hi,

Check out at snmp server that it is able to discover the SAN switch after proper configuration in SAN Switch.

This way you can check that SAN switch is discover via snmp.

Hope this helps !!
