User getting error when try to hear message from PCA Inbox in UC 7.x

Whenever a PCA user in Unity Connection 7.x tries to hear inbox, he is getting the following error

MMApplet.Play: Quickplay cannot proceed due to a failure to obtain the stream identifier.

When press OK then we get the following

Error playing stream - waitForResource

The above situation only happens when the user use the URL which points to both servers in the cluster. If he logs in to the server directly, there is no error and could hear the message properly. This leads me to believe that there is some issue at the unity connection cluster level (may be certificate issue or some thing similar)

Any suggestion.

Hasan,

Round Robin DNS has been seen to cause this issue before. Customers in

my experience decided to do away with it. The design guide recommends

you point all PCA requests to the publisher and doesn't recommend using

round robin since DNS has no knowledge in the event of one of the

servers going down. It will still attempt to send connections to it,

which would not be ideal for end user experience in that situation.

Take a look at

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/7x/design/guide

/7xcucdg060.html#wp1053042

It states that load balancing the traffic may be done this way, but is

not recommended for other more important outage reasons. If you're

really adamant about getting round robin working anyway, you may want

TAC to look and see if there is possibly a defect at hand.

Hope that helps,

Brad

Hey Brad,

Very good tips my friend

+5 points for your excellent work here (always)

Cheers!

Thanks Brad.

Actually, I was able to find the work around. The work around is that you use load balancer and ask it to act like reverse proxy and translate the URL to one of the server whichever is up. I have tested and it worked perfectly fine.
