hello friends,
i have configured 2 routers with simple frame-relay config as follows
diagram
R1 FR R2
config
R1
interface Serial0/1
ip address 10.0.0.1 255.0.0.0
encapsulation frame-relay
serial restart-delay 0
end
R2
interface Serial0/2
ip address 10.0.0.2 255.0.0.0
encapsulation frame-relay
serial restart-delay 0
end
ISSUE-->
from R1, i am able to ping 10.0.0.2 but i am not able to ping self ip address (10.0.0.1) of router R1.
errors i am received are as follows::::
R1#pin 10.0.0.1
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.0.0.1, timeout is 2 seconds:
*Mar 1 00:21:59.499: Serial0/1:Encaps failed--no map entry link 7(IP).
*Mar 1 00:22:01.495: Serial0/1:Encaps failed--no map entry link 7(IP).
*Mar 1 00:22:03.495: Serial0/1:Encaps failed--no map entry link 7(IP).
*Mar 1 00:22:05.495: Serial0/1:Encaps failed--no map entry link 7(IP).
*Mar 1 00:22:07.495: Serial0/1:Encaps failed--no map entry link 7(IP).
Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)
please suggest the reason!!
Thanks and Regards,

this is becuase the local interface is not associated with any FR DLCI
to get it workig
i will assume as you mentioned R1 and R2 they can ping each other
falso from your config, you are counting on invers arp
find out the DLCI used by R1 to reach R2
show frame-relay map
lets say the dlci used is 100
int R1
int s0/1
frame-relay map ip 10.0.0.1 100 br
good luck

Hello Marwan,
your rating will be correct.
Dan has explained in Netpro ideas that now when an answer is flagged as solved automatically provides a 5 rate.
He also explained that the new system is slower so it is possible to see for some time an answer flagged as solved with no rating associated to it, but is should be a temporary effect.
Best Regards
Giuseppe

Apologies, didn't see your post.
Happy xmas and hope you have great new year. And more importantly, not long to go for your super bronze star and about time too

Hi all,
I second Jon's comments about Giuseppe's star. It might be difficult for him to accomplish the new star before new year comes if we take into account the activity in the forums these days, so I might just post some routing/mpls questions to push things a little bit.
As for the issue in the rating of this thread, yes, Dan might say it was some 'hiccup'. I noticed another type of 'hiccup' earlier (at the time Giuseppe and Jon posted). Because there is not much activity across the sections these days, I use the bottom of this page: https://supportforums.cisco.com/people/ to see recent avtivity, and for some time it didn't display anything. Now everything is back to normal regarding this last issue.
Best wishes,
Maria
