Hello
1)what is the difference between WLC and WCS?
2)Can one replace one other
3)what situation did we need one of them?

Hi Alsayed,
Here are some basic answers and two videos that may help;
1. The WLC controls/manages AP's the WCS controls/manages
WLC's
2.No, they cannot replace each other.
3. You can run a "Lightweight" Wireless network without
a WCS but not without a WLC.

I would like to ad to Rob's great post..
Think of WCS as a piece of software that allowed you to template configs, and to manage your WLAN. WCS is not a requirement and is licensed by AP count.

let say i have onother scenario,am using stand alone APs,now what is the role of the WCS in this case?coz here there is no WLC exist in order to manage it
