Solved: Load Balancing - Two Links

Hi,

Internet Link is terminating on a Cisco 2811 Router, Users Internet-Explorer is configured to point to bluecoat Proxy.

Bluecoat default gateway is Cisco 2811 RTR.

Router is with 2 FastEthernet.

If Internet Link goes down ; users cannot browse.

To get redundancy and load balancing, we are planning to get another internet link and terminate on the same router.

Looking for suggestion how to configure loadbalancing and terminating Two links.

considering Two Service provider are different ; IP range is different ; DNS is different.

Hi,

Normally a second default route should do the trick. But you need to take into account NAT as well.

Please attach a "show run" from the router

The 2nd link is not connected, i need advice and possible config assistant.

2nd default route will not help in load balancing

Do you want us to spawn an imaginary configuration for you? If you are good enough to decide what will help and what will not, you are good enough to configure this yourself.

Hello ST,

If you are connecting to the same provider you can use the maximum-paths command, but if are connecting to different providers then you can use route maps to send certain subnets to one and certain subnets to the other.

Please refer to this document for configuration and examples of sigle and multihomed envirements connecting to the service providers.
