Cisco SA520 : PPoE problem

Hello,

I'm experiencing some troubles with a WAN configured in PPoE behind an ADSL2+ modem. The connection is dialing and stay connected for a few minutes and then disconnect/reconnect.

I've made a PPoE profile by entering login/password of the ADSL connection and set :

- Authentication Type : Auto-negociate

- Connection Type : Keep Connected

Is the configuration ok or I've forgot something ? The ISP is Orange ADSL in France. The connection is ok with default modem/router (livebox) and stay connected.

Thanks in advance.

What firmware version are you running here?  Can you get a sniffer of this when it happens?  Under diagnostics, there is a sniffer.

Firmware version is 1.0.39. I'll try sniffer to see what I can get.

Could it be a problem related to compatibility with the modem ?

It could be, but hard to say at this point.  It would be all speculation.

Hello,

After some tests we've concluded that the ADSL modem bought by the client isn't made to work with a router but a computer. The only way to make it working correctly would be to configure WAN in static but wan netmask (of the ISP network) is supposed to be 255.255.255.255. Cisco SA 520 doesn't allow a /32 netmask so we can't do anything with this modem.

We're going to change it.

In conclusion, nothing related to incompatibility, just a bad modem choice...
