Is there any way to get Cisco FabricManager installed on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 64bit system?

Hi Robert,

Cisco Fabric Manager has not been officially tested on any 64-bit platforms, only 32-bit platforms are supported.

Sorry, you can't.

You can only install it on a 32-bit platform.

Even if you managed to install it to a 64-bit platform, you will have consistant fabric discovery failure.

I was able to get Fabric Manager 5.01a installed on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, with User Account Control enabled.  I used the following steps:

1.  Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) as administrator.  Right-click, Run As Administrator.  This is important.

2.  Change to your Java directory (i.e., "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin").  I used Java version 1.6.0_18-b07.

3.  Run the command "Java.exe -Xmx512m -jar m9000-fm-5.0.1a.jar"  (You'll need to specify the full path to the jar file for Fabric Manager.  On the CD image download, it's in the Software folder).  Your command prompt should look something like this, depending on where the Fabric Manager jar file is located:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin>Java.exe -Xmx512m -jar "C:\m9000-cd-5.0.1a\software\m9000-fm-5.0.1a.jar"

4.  Then just follow the steps for the install.

5.  Tada, it's installed.

Thanks Willam!!! That worked PERFECT for me!! running Windows 7 Professional (64bit).

Thnk you very much William worked perfect on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

Still does not answer the question about where the download links are.

Hi James,

You can download the Fabric Manager software from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) at http://www.cisco.com/tac.  Here is a direct link:

http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=282731430&catid=277381371&softwareid=282762464&release=5.0(7)&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

It's likely that you will need a login associated with a Cisco SmartNet maintenance contract in order to download the software.

Fabric manager has been renamed to DCNM, you can download off Cisco.com/go/DCNM - you can download client package separately
