Basic QOS Setup for 3560 3750

I am new to QOS on Cisco 3560 3750 etc. and am looking to setup a simple / basic QOS config for some aastra phones.  My switches have an existing auto qos config on them with the trunk ports configured.  I reviewed Cisco's QOS guide: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750/software/release/12.2_44_se/configuration/guide/swqos.html#wp1022237 but probably need to read it again since I wasn't able to take it all in

We plan to plug desktop computers in to the ports on the builtin switch on the phones.  What kind of config do I need to add to each interface used for the phone/desktop configuration?  Should the existing global qos settings be okay as well?

Below I have posted the existing qos settings on the switches as well as the trunk port config for all switches.

Hi Bart,

one item to check is whether or not the Aastra phones are capable of marking the COS value. i.e. Cisco and Nortel phones mark COS values differently and this will make a difference as to whether or not the COS-DSCP map is appropriate or needs a slight change.

You may need to use a sniffer to see what the COS value is on the actual phone.

Regards,

Steve

They are capable.  Once I know the value what kind of config would I need for each port?

Thanks, still learning..

The phone setup allows you to configure the COS value.  I am wondering if this config should work?   Short of generating a bunch of traffic are there some statistics I can look at to see queue usage levels and such to confirm it (QOS) is working?

Here is my sample port configuration:

switchport access vlan 11
switchport mode access
switchport voice vlan 199
srr-queue bandwidth share 10 10 60 20
srr-queue bandwidth shape 10  0  0  0
mls qos trust cos
auto qos voip trust

command to check if qos is enabled is sho mls qos

you could also try show mls qos int <> statistics
