Hi,
I have 2 AP's that were once connected to the WCS server but have been sitting on the side for awhile. When I powered them up and tried to reset them to factory defaults via the Clear Cnfig option in WCS, i got the error "Command failed".
I also tried holding down the reset button on the AP's for 15 seconds but that didint seem to work either. I need to set a IP on that AP's for a new office using the lwap ap ip addrress command which i cant do at the moment.
I tried changing the ip via WCS but got the error "MIB access failed".
Thanks.

If your LAP has joined a WLC and downloaded the full LWAP IOS, then the "clear lwapp private" is disabled. However, in enable mode, you can delete the full LWAP IOS and you MUST leave the "rcv" image and let your LAP boot this image. Only then can you use the "clear lwapp private" command.

I just tried that and it did seem like everything was cleared prior to the reload but once it came back up, i still wasnt able to run commands.
But they are fine now. I did the following:
Unplug Nic
Unplug Power
Hold down Reset button
Plug in power
10 sec's later, let go of reset button
Clear lwapp ap private config
Reload

Can you provide the output for the "sh version" and the "sh log"?

Unfortunately I can't. The AP's were sent out to our new location yesterday.

Hello Leo,
I am having the same problem, cant reset a 1131AG AP. I tried your advise of removing all files except the "rcv" image and rebooting to no avail. Also tried reseting with the mode button, but that too to no avail. Also, there is no global "config" command listed when in the "enable 15" mode. Here is an output of "sh ver" and "sh log".

Hey Mike,
1. Does your AP get a valid IP address?
2. Can your AP ping the management IP address of the WLC?
3. In enable mode, type the command "lwapp ap controller ip address

Alternatively do a full reset, instructions here:
It's a bit of a faff but you can start from scratch.
Cheers
