Deleting Databases and Starting Again

Paul Williams

Hi

Our installation of LMS 3.2 is in a bit of a mess - what I would like to do is to delete all the databases and start again from scratch, but without reinstalling the whole suite.

Is this

a) recommended - or should I just do the fresh install

or

b) something that is easy to do.

Just to make it clear I want to get rid of all the current stuff thats in there (including devices, configs, archives the works) and start with a clean slate

Regards

Paul

You can do this by reinitialzing the various LMS databases using the dbRestoreOrig.pl command:

NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=cmf dmprefix=Cmf

NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=rmeng dmprefix=RME

NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=ani dmprefix=ANI

NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmEpm dmprefix=EPM

NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmInv dmprefix=INV

NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmFh dmprefix=FH

NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=opsxml dmprefix=Opsxml

NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=ipm dmprefix=Ipm

NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=upm dmprefix=UPM

The commands need to be run in that order.

Would this be any different from restoring a copy of the dbbackup taken after a fresh install?

If the backup was taken after install without doing ANYTHING else in LMS, then yes.

Worked a treat - thanks for that.
