Hi James,

What i understand as per the thread your setup would be like this for basic network connectivity

cisco router 1811 --- ASA(5505) --- internal LAN

You need to do configuration on router for wan and local lan setup facing ASA side and in ASA as vlan interface for interface connected from router and towards the LAN,check out the link for basic setup configuration on ASA 5505 for users and routers configuration links hope the helps.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa72/configuration/guide/int5505.html#wp1051819 --- ASA (5505)

http://pages.swcp.com/~jgentry/topo/cisco.htm --- (Router configuration)

Hope that helps out your query !!

Thanks for your reply.  May I ask what kind of configuration on router for wan and local lan setup facing ASA side would I add into the 2611xm router, what would I need to type in. I am not that savy with cisco and know a little to get around in it. The 2611xm router is the main router and I can not change much on that, because of our lease agreement on it. But he ASA 5505 I can do anything that would help.

Thanks again for your previous information and I am reading it and trying to understand as much as I can.

Hi James,

Genrally it just simple setup with your router one will be facing towards the internet with public ip and one interface will be facing towards local LAN with ASA.Public ip will be provided by ISP you need to do NATTING if required by your LAN to access internet .

Just check out the links on Natting with basic configuration of routers interface.Hope that clear your query !!
