870 series routers

Hello,

Can anyone explain what happens when you install advance IP services IOS on a 870 series router that has 24MB of flash memory...

The documentation states that you need 28MB of flash memory on 870 series router to install advance IP services IOS,

however,

the advance IP services IOS size is less than 24MB so you have no problem installing it on your router.

I have tried some simple configurations on such a router without it being connected to a ADSL line and I could not find anything wrong

with the router...

Hi Marko,

It ain't the config you should watch out for.  When the router boots up, it will try to read the IOS.  The IOS will "expand" and, like cooking yeast, when the IOS finds out it can't be accomodate in the flash provided the router will stop the boot and sometimes with an error that the firmware is "corrupt".

That is exactly what I expected to happen,that the router will end up in rommon or something but every time it booted

successfuly...without errors.That is what is confusing me.
