Hi,
Since VoIP is UDP (I have experience with WAAS and I know it has enhanced TCP apps), is there any module or feature out there recently that can make WAAS directly benefit VoIP traffic as well?
I do not think it does, but I just want to make sure.

Hi
WAAS doesn't optimize VoIP traffic directly but does optimize the wan and provide more bandwidth for the voice traffic.
Here is a case study about WAAS and VoIP.
Thanks
Eric

Yes, hence I carefully chose 'directly'. I understand and agree that if you conserve bandwidth and you can indirectly beneift VoIP :-)
Thanks.

yes i totally agree and did notice the use of the word directly.
also note that waas is also pre-configured to pass through the tcp portion of voice for the call setup etc...

We have a large VoIP presence in our enterprise network and have rolled
out WAAS to several sites. I've kept VoIP completely away from WAAS by
denying it at the WCCP process so that it doesn't even get redirected to the
WAAS appliance. This way I can assure that nothing interfers with VoIP.
Like someone else mentioned, the best benefit WAAS gives to VoIP is freeing
up WAN bandwidth.
