ACS5.1 logging service won't start

It was working, but now it refuses to start.  A restart and a reboot have not helped. I think it stopped around the time I connected to and AD domain, which also requrired an ntp addition.  Appreciate any advice on where to start troubleshooting this one.

I had a very similar problem when setting up the 2nd of my new 1121 Secure ACS Appliances.


First box I configured (without issue), I first configured the NTP servers on the CLI and then restarted ACS 'application stop acs' && 'application start acs'. All went fine, but my timezone was incorrect. I configured the timezone, and this time the CLI told me I had to restart ACS if the time settings had changed. I accepted, typed 'yes' and let it go. That all worked absolutely fine.

Second box I configured (similar/same problem as yours), I configured the timezone, dismissed the demand to restart by typing 'no', added the NTP servers and then stop/started ACS. This time, I got similar log messages to jweekers, but slightly different 'show application status acs':

Process 'management'                running (HTTP is nonresponsive)
Process 'runtime'                   running
Process 'view-database'             running
Process 'view-jobmanager'           running

I also tried a reload to no avail. To resolve, I removed the timezone configuration and restarted ACS. I waited until it all came back up again (normally, I might add) and then added the config back in again, restarting ACS when prompted. This resolved the problem and ACS came up fine.

Reloaded to make sure it would be fine later, and it came back up fine again. Fixed!

For reference, these are the two lines I was attempting to add to the config, in case it makes *any* difference:

clock timezone Europe/London
ntp server time1 time2

(ip name-server and ip domain-name are set correctly for DNS lookups)

I also faced the same problem. but i deregister the primary ACS instance from Secondary ACS and restart service.

it running..               After that again register secondary instance with primary.

Just try..Hope this can solve your problem.
