recovering 6509 ios image

Hi

I'm trying to xmodem an image on to a recently purchased, secondhand 6509 sup2 MSFC2 which is completely offnet with no image on there at all.

The problem is that whenever I try using xmodem to transfer the image over from my laptop it fails, for any 6500 IOS image that I have tried up to now, these are all about 18meg and above.

Can anyone advise what the issue could be? I'm using xmodem from rommon which is consistently failing.

Hi,

I think the image is too big for the xmodem speed to handle, I would suggest to console into it and move the image via tftp. I think it would be the easiest way.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. There is no tftp available from this version of rommon 7.1(1) or I would do exactly that.

The problem may have been me setting the speed up to 38400bps instead of 9600bps. I'm trying it again at 9600 right now.
